Ever been to the store and you are all excited about the great sales, your coupons are ready for some major saving, and then....ugggg...there already sold out? Never fear! Go up and ask for a rain check! Most of your common couponing headquarters such as Publix, CVS, Walgreens, Riteaid, etc... will right you a rain check for the item that is currently on sale but out of stock. This allows you to still get it at the sale price, even if it is into the next week when the item is back in stock at regular retail price.
Now, I few things to keep in mind. The store will honor there rain check usually for 30 days (this may very by store, so be sure to ask or check for a date on your rain check). Be sure to check the expiration date of your coupons as well, because even though you can still get the sale price, the store typically WILL NOT honor the expired coupon. Make sure you check the stock before your coupon expires!
Double check to make sure the customer service representative put the item name and size if specified in the sale. You do not want there to be any confusion when you come back to claim your items. Also, if you wanted 2 or 3 of the items, the rain check needs to specify quantity desired. If not, they will usually only honor it for one.
Publix DOES NOT write rain checks for Yellow Advantage or Green Advantage ads, because these deals last throughout the month, not just one week, so this allows the store plenty of time to get the items back on the shelf before the sale stops. Correct me if your store does, mine does not, and I am not aware of any in the area that do.
